  Gluteus Maximus Trigger Points - Overview     Trochanteric (Hip) Bursitis is often associated with trigger points in the gluteus maximus Trochanteric bursitis commonly results when the bursa over the greater trochanter of the femur is irritated by repetitive stresses encountered during running activities. The greater trochanter is the bony prominence on the upper lateral portion of the femur to which many muscles of the hip and thigh attach.
