Pilates Principles - Pilates Foundation Course (6 CEUs)
Course Description
This course combines the most current research around core stabilization with six fundamental Pilates principles to offer simple, easy-to-use strategies for helping you help yourself and your clients relieve discomfort and improve pain-free movement.
The course video tutorials and 160 page illustrated text provide Pilates Practitioners; Massage and Manual Therapists with a comprehensive understanding of how the core functions, and how stabilization helps promote health and proper movement patterns through the development of balanced muscles, joint alignment, and core control.
Includes current research on neuroplasticity, the brain’s capacity to reorganize itself by developing new neuronal connections, and on the function of fascia, to explain the six fundamental principles of Pilates—Centering, Concentration, Control, Precision, Breath, and Flow.
Course Objectives;
Learn how the 6 Pilates Principles can restore functional balance and promote optimal movement patterns.
To discuss the functional core and ways it should operate for proper function.
Learn how to balance the deep and superficial myofascial systems with breathing techniques.
Use the Self Myofascial Release Technique to help promote the parasympathetic nervous system.
Determine what habituation from daily routines may be causing dysfunctional postural and movement patterns.
About the Presenter
Karen Vizueta graduated with honors and holds a BSc in Communications from the University of Rhode Island. She has the following fitness certifications; STOTT Pilates Mat; Reformer, NASM CPT, AFAA Primary Group Exercise, AFAA Step, TRX, BOSU Kids, and Precision Nutrition L1. She is trained in Balanced Body Jumpboard, Power House Pilates Integrated Tower, IMX Pilates Mat & Reformer.
In addition to being a fitness coach she runs an online virtual workout and wellness platform called Workout Hotel. Her goal is to deliver safe and effective workouts globally. Karen was featured in Cosmopolitan.com and blog.feedspot.com. She developed workouts for the Metabolism Plan and Mini Pop Kids. She is a volunteer for Nepris where she helps students gain early exposure to job skills and connect what they learn in the classroom to real careers.
