Course Overview

Lower back pain and sciatica are among the most common complaints seen by manual therapists—and some of the most frustrating to treat. Bowen Therapy offers a uniquely gentle yet powerful approach that works with the fascial, neuromuscular, and autonomic systems to reduce pain, restore movement, and rebalance the body.

This 3-part webinar series, presented by internationally respected Bowen educator John Wilks, guides you through practical Bowen assessments, clinical reasoning, and treatment strategies that can be applied immediately in your therapy practice.

Across three live sessions—including demonstration and postural analysis—you will learn how to identify root causes rather than simply chasing symptoms. John will walk you step-by-step through Bowen moves and protocols for sciatica and lumbar pain, using his trademark clarity and deep insight into human structure and function.

Ideal for Bowen practitioners and any hands-on therapist looking to add gentle, minimal-effort, high-impact approaches to lower back pain management.

What You’ll Learn

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify common origins of lower back pain and sciatica, including musculoskeletal, fascial, and neurological contributors.
  • Perform Bowen-based assessment techniques to better understand the underlying causes of low back and sciatic pain.
  • Recognize environmental, lifestyle, and ergonomic factors that influence chronic or recurring symptoms.
  • Conduct postural and gait analysis to identify compensatory patterns affecting the lumbar spine and pelvis.
  • Apply Bowen treatment approaches and protocols to help alleviate symptoms and address the root causes.

Techniques shown will be gentle, precise, and immediately applicable—even for therapists who are new to Bowen.
