CANADIAN MASSAGE THERAPY CE FINDER

Continuing education requirements across Canada.

Choose a province or territory to see how continuing education or professional development is currently structured.

Canada does not have one national CE rule. Requirements may be set by a statutory college, a professional association, or an insurer.

Provincially regulated Association-dependent

WHY THE ANSWERS DIFFER

Regulation and association membership are not the same thing.

British Columbia, Ontario, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island regulate massage therapy through a statutory college. Their quality-assurance or continuing-competence programs apply to registrants.

Elsewhere, a therapist’s continuing-education obligations commonly come from the professional association through which they maintain membership, insurance recognition or liability coverage. Different associations operating in the same province or territory may set different totals and course-acceptance rules.

QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Using Canadian CE information carefully.

Are massage therapy requirements the same throughout Canada?

No. Massage therapy is regulated provincially in five provinces. In other provinces and the territories, continuing education commonly depends on the therapist’s professional association, insurer-recognition arrangements and sometimes municipal requirements.

Does one course hour always equal one CE credit?

No. Credit calculations differ. For example, the New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador colleges state that one CEU equals two participation hours, while other programs may award credits hour-for-hour or use learning plans rather than credit totals.

Are online massage therapy courses accepted?

Many programs recognize appropriate online learning, but course subject, category, documentation and approval rules vary. Check the current rules of your college or association before relying on a course for renewal.

Does Niel Asher Education guarantee acceptance?

No. Course pages identify known accreditation and recognition, but the registrant remains responsible for confirming that a particular course meets their current professional, regulatory or association requirements.
