Leda Mox is a highly experienced equine massage therapist and educator, known for her practical, hands-on approach to improving horse health, performance, and wellbeing. With more than two decades of experience working closely with horses, Leda has built a career that bridges the worlds of animal therapy, rehabilitation, and performance care.

Her connection with horses began early. Growing up around farms and horses, Leda developed a deep affinity for them as a child—an interest that quickly grew into a lifelong passion. By the age of ten, she was already caring for her own horse, learning responsibility, discipline, and the importance of understanding the animal beyond just riding.

That early hands-on experience laid the foundation for what would become a professional path. Leda didn’t arrive at equine therapy through textbooks alone—she learned by doing, observing, and responding to the needs of the horses in front of her. Over time, she began to recognize patterns in movement, compensation, and discomfort, which sparked her interest in massage therapy for horses as a way to support both recovery and performance.

Today, Leda works with a wide range of horses—from young, untrained animals to high-performance competitors—helping them manage issues such as joint stiffness, muscular tension, and compensation patterns caused by both training and rider imbalance. Her work emphasizes the importance of movement, circulation, and tissue health, drawing clear parallels between equine care and human sports therapy.

A key part of her philosophy is that horses are highly intuitive and responsive animals. Leda often highlights how horses can reflect human emotion and energy, making them powerful partners not only in sport, but also in therapeutic and emotional contexts. This understanding informs both her treatment approach and her teaching style, where she encourages therapists to “listen” to the horse rather than simply apply technique.

In addition to her clinical work, Leda is an active educator, teaching courses in equine massage and stretching techniques. She works with both experienced horse professionals and human massage therapists looking to expand into animal work, helping them develop the skills needed to work safely and effectively with horses.

In this podcast episode, Leda shares her journey from horse enthusiast to professional therapist, along with practical insights into equine massage, stretching, and performance care. The conversation also explores the unique relationship between humans and horses, including how horses respond to touch, movement, and even emotional states.
