    About Herniated Disc

The spine is made up of 33 vertebrae and most are separated by rubbery cartilaginous cushions, called discs. These jelly-like discs are soft on the inside with a tougher exterior (annulus fibrosus).

When some of the softer inside of a spinal disc pushes out of its tough exterior, you are said to have a herniated disc.
