Josh Williams is an experienced massage therapist, educator, and co-founder of an innovative equine bodywork and wellness training platform. With a background that blends over two decades of hands-on bodywork experience with deep study in kinesiology, biomechanics, and human movement, Josh brings a unique and integrative perspective to both human and animal therapy.

Originally trained in massage therapy in Maui in the early 2000s, Josh went on to build a successful clinical practice working with a wide range of clients, including endurance athletes and individuals with complex musculoskeletal conditions. Over time, his curiosity led him beyond traditional techniques and into a broader exploration of how the body functions—not just mechanically, but neurologically and relationally. This journey has been shaped by both formal education and a lifelong interest in mindfulness, meditation, and the role of the nervous system in healing.

A pivotal moment in Josh’s career came when he was introduced to equine bodywork. What began as a personal discovery quickly evolved into a professional calling. Working with horses opened up a new dimension of understanding—particularly around concepts such as “feel,” nervous system regulation, and the subtle communication that takes place through touch. Horses, with their heightened sensitivity and powerful presence, became both teachers and partners in refining his approach.

Josh’s work is now centered around helping practitioners develop a deeper level of tactile awareness and clinical intuition. He emphasizes the importance of moving beyond rigid protocols and instead cultivating the ability to listen—both with the hands and with the whole body. His teaching encourages therapists to explore the “lineage” of techniques, to question assumptions, and to develop a more adaptable, responsive style of care.

In addition to his work in bodywork, Josh is actively involved in developing community-based wellness programs that integrate equine-assisted therapy, coaching, and mental health support. Alongside his partner, he is working toward creating a holistic model that combines physical therapy principles, occupational therapy, and relational healing—particularly with a focus on supporting adolescent mental health and neurodivergent populations.

Josh is also pursuing doctoral-level training in occupational therapy, further expanding his ability to support clients in meaningful, function-based ways. His work reflects a strong belief that healing is not about eliminating symptoms alone, but about restoring connection—within the body, between individuals, and within the broader human experience.

Known for his thoughtful, grounded, and highly engaging teaching style, Josh continues to inspire therapists around the world to deepen their understanding, trust their instincts, and approach their work with greater curiosity, presence, and purpose.
